Driving license for 17 year old:
The law says:
If a driver’s license applicant is under 18 years of age, the guardian(s) must give consent for a driver’s license to be issued to the driver’s license applicant.
This is done by having your/your parents complete and sign a consent form.
You will receive this consent from the driving school when you register.
The 17-year-olds must go through the same curriculum as those over 18 and get a driving licence.
This means:
- 29 theory lessons
- 4 lessons on the training track
- 16 lessons on the road
- 4 lessons on driving technique (Some call wet track or smooth track)
This is the minimum requirements set by law
You will have to go to a theoretical test and a practical driving test.
Rules set for 17 year old
You may go to the theory test 1 month before your 17 years birthsday.
You can earlist go the the practical test same day where you have your 17 years birthday.
You MUST have companion with you while driving until you becomes 18 years old.
Demand for the companion to the 17 year old driver:
Must be at least 30 years old. He/she must have had a valid danish driving license last 10 years, and in this 10 year periode not have had the license rejected conditional or unconditional.
The companion must anytime be able to drive the car instead of the 17 year old in a legal way and must have the driving license with in the car while sitting on passenger seat.
It is the 17-year-old’s responsibility to inform the companion of the requirements the companion must meet in order to drive with the 17-year-old behind the wheel.
